Position Summary: 
At Hutsonville First Christian Church, we are a New Testament Christianity church as the Preacher/Minister will serve as a spiritual leader, Bible teacher, and shepherd of the congregation, faithfully proclaiming the Word of God and helping the church grow in its commitment to Jesus Christ and the teachings of the New Testament.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of Scripture, a sincere commitment to New Testament Christianity, personal spiritual maturity, sound character, and a genuine love for people. The preacher should be able to communicate biblical truth clearly and practically while encouraging the congregation to live out its faith in daily life.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Faithfully preach and teach the Bible, with an emphasis on the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.
  • Prepare and deliver Christ-centered, biblical, practical, and engaging sermons.
  • Teach Bible classes and provide opportunities for deeper biblical study.
  • Present the message of Scripture in a manner that is understandable and applicable to people of all ages and levels of spiritual maturity.
  • Encourage the congregation toward faithful Christian living, spiritual growth, and service.
  • Work alongside the elders and church leadership in carrying out the spiritual mission of the congregation.
  • Provide pastoral encouragement, spiritual guidance, and biblical counsel to members.
  • Visit and minister to those who are sick, elderly, grieving, hospitalized, or otherwise in need of encouragement.
  • Be available to members and visitors while maintaining appropriate pastoral boundaries.
  • Help create an environment where members feel welcomed, loved, encouraged, and challenged to grow.
  • Promote and participate in the church's efforts to reach the local community with the Gospel.
  • Encourage members to become personally involved in evangelism and disciple-making.
  • Develop relationships with visitors and help them become connected to the congregation.
  • Support efforts to reach people who are searching for truth and seeking a relationship with God.
  • Work cooperatively with the elders, deacons, ministry leaders, and congregation.
  • Support the church's ministries and help identify opportunities for growth and service.
  • Encourage unity, humility, spiritual maturity, and mutual service among members.
  • Help develop and equip men and women of the congregation to serve according to biblical principles and the church's convictions.
  • Participate in staff and leadership meetings as requested.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should:

  • Be a faithful Christian who demonstrates a strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
  • Have been baptized by full immersion.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the Bible and New Testament teachings.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to New Testament Christianity and the beliefs and practices of the congregation.
  • Possess strong communication and public-speaking skills.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, integrity, humility, and servant leadership.
  • Have a genuine love for people and a heart for ministry.
  • Be committed to evangelism, discipleship, and congregational growth.
  • Work well with elders, ministry leaders, and fellow Christians.
  • Be willing to continue growing personally, spiritually, and professionally.

The preacher is expected to:

  • Preach the Word faithfully.

  • Love and serve the congregation.
  • Support and respect the biblical leadership of the elders.
  • Encourage evangelism and discipleship.
  • Promote unity and peace within the congregation.
  • Handle Scripture accurately and responsibly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate pastoral boundaries.
  • Be dependable, approachable, and willing to serve wherever needed.
  • Continually seek to glorify God rather than self.

Statement of Ministry Philosophy

  1. The preacher should understand his role not simply as delivering sermons, but as serving Christ and His church through preaching, teaching, shepherding, evangelism, encouragement, and personal example.
  2. The goal of the ministry is to help the congregation know God's Word, follow Jesus Christ, grow spiritually, serve one another, and share the Gospel with others.
  3. The preacher will work under the biblical leadership of the congregation's elders and seek to maintain a spirit of humility, cooperation, accountability, and service.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, ministry responsibilities, and the needs of the congregation.
