Position Summary:
The Children’s Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading a Christ-centered ministry for children ages 4 through 12. This role focuses on nurturing spiritual growth, supporting families, and creating a safe, engaging environment where children can learn about God’s love and truth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ministry Leadership & Vision
- Develop and implement a comprehensive children’s ministry aligned with the church’s mission and values
- Create a welcoming, spiritually enriching environment for children and families
- Plan and oversee Sunday School and Children’s Church classes and special events (VBS, camps, holiday programs)
2. Curriculum & Teaching
- Select, organize, or develop age-appropriate biblical curriculum that adheres to ACC vision
- Ensure all teaching is biblically sound and engaging
3. Volunteer Recruitment & Training
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers for children’s ministry
- Provide ongoing encouragement, leadership, and appreciation for volunteers
4. Safety & Administration
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all children
- Ensure compliance with church safety guidelines
5. Family Engagement
- Partner with parents to support the spiritual growth of their children
- Communicate regularly with families about events and resources
- Provide tools and encouragement for faith development at home
6. Outreach & Growth
- Develop outreach opportunities to connect with children and families in the community
- Help integrate new families into the church
- Support church-wide events as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong, growing personal faith in Jesus Christ
- Passion for working with children and families
- Experience in children’s ministry, education, or a related field preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers
- Agreement with the vision of Aurora Church of Christ
- Background check required
Work Schedule:
Part-time: Includes Sundays, outings and special events
Reports To: Minister & Church Leadership
Goal of the Role: To help children build a strong foundation of faith in Christ, understand God’s Word, and develop a lifelong relationship with Him.
