Position Description: 

Lawrence Heights Christian Church is seeking a part-time Worship Leader to provide spiritual and musical leadership for our weekly worship services. This person will work closely with the Senior Pastor to help create Christ-centered, faithful worship services that lead our church family in praise to the Lord. 

The ideal candidate will be a spiritually mature follower of Jesus who is musically gifted, loves people, and is passionate about serving God’s church. This person should be able to lead confidently from the platform while also recruiting, encouraging, and developing a healthy team of volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Weekly Worship: Plan and lead Sunday morning worship services with excellence, authenticity, and a clear focus on Jesus.
• Service Planning: Work closely with the staff to prayerfully plan cohesive worship services that support the message and overall direction of the church.
• Worship Team Leadership: Recruit, schedule, equip, encourage, and develop volunteer musicians and vocalists while cultivating a healthy, Christ-centered team culture.
• Rehearsals and Preparation: Prepare music, arrangements, and necessary resources, and lead effective rehearsals that equip the worship team to serve with confidence and excellence.
• Invest in Volunteers: Help cultivate a culture of worship that extends beyond music and encourages people to live lives fully devoted to Jesus.
• Special Services: Provide direction and leadership for special services and church-wide gatherings throughout the year as needed.

• Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrates a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus and meets the biblical qualifications for serving God’s church.
• Theological Alignment: Affirms and supports the doctrinal beliefs and mission of Lawrence Heights Christian Church and the broader Independent Christian Church tradition.
• Relational: Genuinely loves people and demonstrates the ability to connect with people of all ages. Invests intentionally in the lives of others through encouragement, discipleship, and personal example.
• Heart for the Lost: Has a heart for the unique mission field of Lawrence, Kansas, and is eager to join in the work of reaching people for Jesus.
• Driven and Self-Motivated: A self-starter who works with initiative, humility, excellence, and a strong commitment to honoring Jesus through faithful ministry.
• Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous ministry experience in worship ministry is strongly desired. 
• Musical Ability: Demonstrates strong vocal and musical ability with the skills necessary to confidently lead a congregation and worship team. Proficiency in guitar and/or keyboard is preferred.
• Organizational Ability: Exhibits strong organizational skills and the ability to recruit, develop, and lead volunteer teams effectively. Able to create healthy systems while maintaining a relational ministry culture. 

Position Employment Type: Part-Time
