A little about the Congregation at Cross Plains:
- We are a rural congregation in southeast Indiana of 90 to 110 people.
- We have a diversity of age between infants and senior saints.
- We have volunteers working with the youth: Jr. church and youth classes. We also have teachers for adults for Sunday morning Bible Study and Wednesday evening Bible Study.
- A plus is that we also have several men who are able, capable, and willing to assist in the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.
- Salary commensurate with education and experience.
- This position is open to full-time and bi-vocational opportunities as well.
- Salary will also include other ministry expenses.
Job Description:
The congregation of the Cross Plains Church of Christ in Cross Plains, Indiana is seeking a senior minister who has a passion for the lost, for making disciples, for maturing our congregation to have a closer relationship with Christ, and to train up his church to personally evangelize. He must have a strong work ethic, passionate about serving preaching and teaching God's word. He will be a man who desires to see the church grow both spiritually and physically. He will have the ability to work with others, lead by example, and encourage fellowship with the church. The reason we are seeking a new servant-leader is our minister has retired after 40 years of faithful service.
Candidate preacher requisites include the following:
- A member of The New Testament Church: The Body of Christ; adhering to the principles of the Restoration Movement and pattern set by the apostles in the book of Acts.
- Believe and preach/teach the gospel of Jesus: the death burial, and resurrection of the Christ. The believer's own death to self (Repentance), burial of sinful self in (Baptism by Immersion) for the Forgiveness of Sins and to receive God’s Holy Spirit as an indwelling gift/seal, and resurrection (arising) a new creature in Christ.
- Believe and preach/teach the divinity of God the Father, Jesus the Son, The Holy Spirit.
- Candidate must be personable and humble, a man who can relate to the issues of life of our people: caring and compassionate while remaining in sound Bible doctrine.
- Education in counseling would be considered a plus.
- A man who studies the Word of God not only for sermons and lessons, but a man who seriously works to develop his own personal relationship with the Lord Jesus.
- Preferably have a degree from one of our Restoration Movement Bible colleges.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: regular preaching of expository, textual and topical sermons on Sunday mornings and evenings.
- Work alongside future elders to advance spiritual maturity and cooperation in the congregation.
- Be involved in evangelistic calling in the community and the training up His Church to also evangelize.
- As schedule allows candidate will assist in the development of a strong youth program, visit those in hospitals, and long-term health care facilities.
- Willing to officiate at funerals and weddings, while working to become a welcome face in the community.
