Mount Carmel is a growing church of 1500 with a Children’s Ministry of 225 led by a team of over 75 volunteers. Our Children’s ministry (MC Kids) is the largest it’s ever been and we’re currently pursuing more space and more staff to continue to maximize our Kingdom impact and disciple children and families on the east side of Cincinnati in effective and creative ways. 

SUMMARY / PURPOSE OF ROLE: To serve the Mount Carmel Christian Church community by providing leadership, guidance, and shepherding for the children, parents, and volunteers of MC Kids.

EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from Bible College/Christian University.
  • If a degree is in an unrelated field, demonstrated ability to execute the Children’s Minister role.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of successful leadership as a member of a Children’s Ministry Team preferred.

FAITH EXPECTATIONS

  • Immersed believer with a deep desire to lead children and families to Christ.
  • Sacrificial desire to be close to God and prioritize personal spiritual disciplines.
  • Dedication to Biblical truth and theological accuracy in classrooms and curriculum.
  • Comfortable leading students to faith, challenging and equipping parents to own their child’s discipleship, and empowering and caring for volunteer leaders. 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Brite Curriculum, Microsoft Office 365, Planning Center Online, Canva, and Apple products preferred.
  • Avid learner and desire to know more about the campus, community, and field of Children’s Ministry.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and follow-through skills.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and engage with our church community in positive and productive ways.
  • Confident and willing advocate for change and share new ideas when needed. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership:

  • Manage all aspects of Children’s Ministry including part-time Ministry Assistants with support/training from Family Minister.
  • Manage volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and training. Works closely with Ministry Assistant to schedule volunteers.
  • Manage the annual Children’s Ministry budget.
  • Plan and lead Summer Camp and/or VBS programming along with other Retreats or Conferences for MC Kids.
  • Collaborate with other Family Minister to deliver discipleship strategies for parents. 
  • Represent Mount Carmel as a minister to children and families in the hospital.
  • Ensure all Mount Carmel policies and procedures related to security are followed including: background checks, classroom security, and training for staff and volunteers.

Programming:

  • Prepare elementary weekend lesson materials which include written and digital resources.
  • Work closely with the Ministry Assistant, and oversee lesson editing for birth through age five.
  • Alongside the Communication Team, oversee communication to parents and volunteers through social media, email, texting, or other means of communication.
  • Maintain engaging, clean, and organized classroom environments.
