About Stafford County Christian Church (SC3)

Stafford County Christian Church (SC3) is a growing, Christ-centered church located approximately 45 minutes south of Washington, DC. Our community is one of the fastest-growing areas in the region, fueled by significant residential development, a strong military presence, and expanding school systems.

Within five miles of SC3, there are:

  • 5,500 high school students across three schools
  • 2,800 middle school students across three schools
  • A sixth high school opening in fall 2026
  • 2,900 new homes currently planned or under construction in the immediate area

This growth represents an incredible opportunity to reach, disciple, and equip the next generation with the Gospel.

Our mission is simple and intentional:
To be a community that Gathers often, Grows up in every way in the Lord, and Goes forward with the Gospel.

The Opportunity:

SC3 is prayerfully seeking a full-time Student Minister who is passionate about reaching students with the Gospel, discipling them into mature followers of Jesus Christ, and equipping them to live on mission.

This role focuses on middle and high school students (grades 6–12) and offers a unique opportunity to shape a ministry poised for growth in a rapidly expanding community. The Student Minister will have meaningful freedom to lead, create, and innovate—while also receiving mentorship and support from the Senior Minister and church leadership.

In addition to student ministry leadership, the Student Minister will have opportunities to develop broader ministry skills, including preaching (3–5 times per year if desired), leadership development, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Ministry Leadership

  • Provide visionary leadership for all middle and high school ministries (grades 6–12)
  • Create and lead engaging weekly student gatherings that include worship, biblical teaching, and small groups
  • Foster an environment where students feel welcomed, known, challenged, and discipled
  • Encourage students toward spiritual maturity through Scripture, discipleship, evangelism, and service

Relational Ministry

  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with students, parents, and volunteer leaders
  • Partner with parents as the primary spiritual influencers in their students’ lives
  • Be present in the lives of students through church events, relational touchpoints, and community involvement

Outreach & Events

  • Develop and lead outreach-focused events designed to engage unchurched students
  • Plan and oversee retreats, camps, conferences, and service opportunities
  • Create a culture where students are equipped and motivated to invite friends and live on mission

Volunteer & Leader Development

  • Recruit, train, disciple, and empower student ministry leaders
  • Cast vision and lead leaders with passion, clarity, and encouragement
  • Facilitate regular (monthly) leader meetings for collaboration, evaluation, and growth
  • Build a sustainable leadership pipeline through intentional multiplication

Ministry Systems & Safety

  • Establish and maintain clear operational procedures for student ministry
  • Ensure appropriate safety, accountability, and child protection practices are followed
  • Collaborate with church staff to align student ministry with the overall vision of SC3

Qualifications & Expectations:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree
  • Have 3–5 years of full-time student ministry experience (desired but not required)
  • Demonstrate strong Christian character and a growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Affirm the Bible as the inerrant Word of God
  • Be aligned with the Biblical positions of the Independent Christian Churches / Churches of Christ (Restoration Movement)
  • Possess strong communication and relational skills
  • Be a strategic, creative thinker who can implement new ideas effectively
  • Have a teachable spirit, humble heart, and a bold passion for discipling students
  • Thrive in a growing, dynamic ministry context and adapt to increasing demands
  • Work collaboratively with staff and leadership toward shared vision and mission
