Rise Christian Church Children's Minister Job Description

The role of Children's Minister at Rise Christian Church is a vital role to the overall vision of RISE in which we strive to Be Disciples and Make Disciples by helping people BEGIN to know Jesus, BELIEVE in Him, BECOME a closer follower, and BUILD His Kingdom.  The Children’s Minister will oversee ministry of youth (Birth – Grade 5) under the leadership of the Elders, Senior Pastor, and Executive Pastor. This role will also work alongside all Rise staff to more comprehensively execute the mission of the church. 

EXPECTATIONS:

The RISE Children's Minister is expected to:

  • Be a committed Christian with a willing heart, character, and lifestyle reflective of a genuine Christ-follower.
  • Have a passion and love for Jesus and His Church.
  • Be (or become) a member of Rise Christian Church, fully supporting the church’s vision and core beliefs as evidenced by teaching, tithing, and lifestyle.
  • Be a team player with a willingness to contribute to the mission and vision at Rise set by the Senior Pastor and Elders.
  • Attend regular staff meetings(weekly), 1-on1 sync meetings (biweekly), and board meetings (monthly).
  • Be a regular attending member (or leader) of a Lifegroup.
  • Proficient (within 3-6 months if not currently) in Microsoft suite programs.
  • Be self-motivated and possess a solid work ethic.
  • Be coachable and eager to learn from others.
  • Be doctrinally sound and able to teach in an understandable and relatable way.

MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead/oversee all children’s ministry programming.
  • Coordinate volunteers and supplies for all classes.
  • Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to teach children through excellent planning, communication, and vision casting.
  • Provide support for volunteers by praying for each, providing encouragement, resources, feedback, and demonstrating appreciation.
  • Improve and strengthen the Children’s Ministry at Rise through participation in vision planning with the Senior Pastor.
  • Communicate the needs of the Children’s Ministry with leadership often.
  • Provide a warm, safe, and friendly learning environment.
  • Build relationships with parents/families.
  • Work with the Rise Security Team to maintain a safe and secure worship/learning environment for the children and volunteers (entry/exit points secured, child check-in/check-out, etc.).
  • Create/organize curriculum and supplies.
  • Create/organize community building activities for children and families.
  • Utilize Deacon team members to create efficiencies, increase capacity, and improve quality of programing.
  • Other duties as assigned by Sr. Pastor, Exec. Pastor, and Elders.
