Youth Minister

Role: Youth Minister (Elementary focus, some High School) 
Status: Full-time preferred; open to qualified student candidates (housing/travel help available) 
Start: ASAP 
Reports to: Senior Minister (works closely with Zach Boushard) 
Location: First Christian Church, Memphis, Missouri

Snapshot:

First Christian Church is seeking a relational, organized disciple-maker to lead ministry primarily for elementary students and support ministry for high schoolers. The church has healthy momentum and wants a leader who can connect with youth, equip volunteers, and keep that energy moving.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead Sunday morning children’s programming (elementary focus)
• Lead or co-lead a Sunday evening youth group (elementary and some high school)
• Build relationships with students and families; follow up consistently
• Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers; maintain safe-ministry practices
• Plan and execute age-appropriate events, service projects, and trips
• Collaborate with the Senior Minister (Zach) and elders to align with church vision
• Communicate clearly with parents and the congregation (calendar, updates, wins)
• Manage basic admin: rosters, permission forms, budgets, supplies

Note: The church runs a very active Tuesday after-school elementary program. There is no current staffing need there, but coordination awareness is helpful. 

Weekly Rhythm (typical):

• Sunday AM: Elementary programming leadership and support
• Sunday PM: Youth group (planning, teaching, small groups)
• Midweek: Planning, office hours, volunteer touchpoints, family follow-ups, event prep

Qualifications:

• Vibrant, growing faith in Jesus Christ and a heart for next-gen discipleship
• Experience leading kids or youth ministry (volunteer or paid)
• Strength in organizing events, calendars, and teams
• Clear communicator; dependable follow-through
• Willingness to work as a team player with staff and elders
• Background check and references required

Compensation & Support:

• Salary: Commensurate with experience and fit
• Student candidates: Temporary housing and/or travel reimbursement available (as previously provided)
• Flexibility: Role may be shaped to the individual’s strengths while meeting core ministry needs
