Organization 
Northeast Iowa Christian Service Camp, Bristow, Iowa. A year round Christian camp serving Restoration Movement churches. Facilities are winterized and used for retreats outside the summer season.

Position 
Camp Director, full time, approximately thirty to forty hours per week. Target start date is October 15, 2025, with a transition period alongside the retiring director.

Compensation and Housing 
● Salary, $45k 
● Single insurance provided
● Director’s trailer home available on site if desired

Why This Role Exists 
The camp operates throughout the year and hosted nearly thirty non summer groups last year. Consistent on site leadership is needed to coordinate rentals, maintain facilities, and support the core summer program. Camp management experience is helpful, not required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Chair Deans’ Meetings, set agendas
  • Prepare written reports and attend monthly Executive Board and Trustee meetings
  • Conduct annual in person visits with every supporting church
  • Lead networking and promotion with churches and on social media
  • Oversee official programming, including zip line certification and training, food safety manager certification, buildings and grounds oversight, bus driver arrangements, registrar coordination, summer staff recruiting for cooks and nurses and helpers, canteen operations, camp T shirt orders, background checks, Ministry Safe certification
  • Maintain regular financial communication with the Treasurer
  • Coordinate rental groups, scheduling, paperwork and deposits, check in and check out, invoicing, post event cleaning
  • Manage well monitoring and water samples to Keystone Labs, file monthly reports to the Department of Natural Resources
  • Attend a camp conference at least every two years
  • Respond promptly to phone calls and emails
  • Direct maintenance of the camp, monitor propane and arrange refills, manage gasoline tank refills
  • Adapt duties to the director’s skills and the camp’s needs

Governance and Reporting 
Reports to the Executive Board and Trustees through monthly meetings and written reports. Chairs Deans’ Meetings to align summer programming.

Church and Community Relations 
Visit every supporting church at least once per year. Build partnerships and act as a promotional liaison for the camp.

Facilities and Safety 
Lead buildings and grounds oversight, certifications, and compliance, including water testing and required safety reporting.

Rentals and Year Round Use 
Manage inquiries and contracts, event logistics, billing, and facility turnover for outside groups throughout the year.

Candidate Profile

  • Committed Christian aligned with the Restoration Movement
  • Organized leader who communicates clearly in writing and in person
  • Comfortable with hands on facilities oversight and safety compliance
  • Relationship builder with churches, volunteers, and rental partners
  • Camp leadership experience is a plus, not a requirement

Transition Plan

The current director plans to retire in April and can serve part time during the transition, then continue as a maintenance volunteer as needed. Hiring in mid November to early December is preferred to allow adequate handoff.
