Reports to: First to the Senior Minister, then to the Chairman of the Elders Status:

General: The Youth Minister will be responsible for leading all programming and activities for children and youth from birth through young adult.

Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with other church leaders, define a vision for New Brunswick’s youth ministry that contributes to the church’s overall vision. Develop a ministry plan to achieve that vision, working to keep the vision in front of people.
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of New Brunswick’s children and youth ministry. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Children and Youth Programming during Sunday School
    • Children and Youth Programming during the Worship Service – Kids Church
    • Youth Programming on Sunday Evenings.
  • Organize recruitment, training, and planning sessions for the youth leaders/workers.
  • Provide leadership and serve as shepherd to the youth ministry volunteers.
  • Approve all youth ministries programs, curriculum, and activities.
  • Serve as pastor to the students in your care - praying, visiting, counseling, discipling.
  • Plan and oversee special events related to students and families.
  • Oversee and coordinate publicity for youth ministry activities.
  • Develop a relationship with the children and youth by being active or present at their games and activities.
  • Coordinate or lead the students in service within the community or lead them on a short-term missions experience.

Other General Expectations:

  • Walk closely with Christ, living in a manner consistent with a pastoral calling (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
  • Work with the Senior Minister to coordinate all church programs and functions in concert with New Brunswick’s mission and vision statements.
  • Represent the interests of the youth in New Brunswick’s care at all decision-making meetings and sessions.
  • Continue pursuing personal spiritual and professional growth through a yearly conference or retreat, and other opportunities as needed.
  • Take a monthly Sabbath.
  • Be available to preach and teach in the adult worship service as needed.
  • Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (weddings, funerals, counseling, etc).
