Job Description: Minister of North Terre Haute Christian Church
North Terre Haute Christian Church is seeking a Restoration Movement Bible college graduate (preferred) who believes the Holy Bible is the inerrant truth of God. We seek a pastor who puts Christ first in his life and seeks to follow Christ daily through prayer, study of God’s Word and in his encounter with others, both those who believe in and follow Christ and who don’t yet know Christ. A bachelor’s degree from a Christian university or college is preferred. NTHCC seeks a candidate who has experience as a pastor and in leading ministries in a church, who has experience with and can coordinate church communication, and can organize and steward the churches resources (both the structures and worshippers).
Purpose and Functions:
- Proclaim the Gospel from the pulpit with authority and wisdom at all regularly scheduled services.
- Meet with the elders monthly to discuss church matters.
- Uphold the mission, vision and values of the church.
- Team with the elders and deacons with shepherding ministry to the sick, those with special needs, inactive members and prospects.
- Attend monthly board meetings with elders and board. A report and discussion of the past month is expected as well as discussion of needs, plans, concerns.
- Counsel individuals and families regarding spiritual and lifestyle matters and refer to other professionals for assistance when appropriate.
- Assist in scheduling guest speakers and special programs.
- Serve as administrator of church office in maintaining office hours as agreed upon by the elders and coordinating duties of all other staff (secretary, youth director, custodian).
- Perform weddings and funerals as requested by members of the congregation unless there are valid reasons to refuse the request.
- Healthy work ethic; self-disciplined and motivated.
- Passionate about the mission of the church; encourage, support, and participate in church life.
- Ability to communicate information effectively both orally and in writing.
