In general, the Senior Minister is part of the leadership team for the congregation and must work closely with the Elders and the other Ministry Team Leaders. As SeniorMinister, the duties are often more over-arching and far-reaching and will have greater influence on the overall spirit of the congregation. He is to be a positive influence for the spiritual and numerical growth of the First Christian Church of Anna. (FCC). The Senior Minister is specifically responsible for the following:
Mission:
- To save the lost, teach the saved, minister to those in need, and be a light for Christ in our community and the world.
- Aid the church in fulfilling it's mission to the surrounding area.
Qualifications:
- The Senior Minister shall be a baptized believer who believes and profess the truth of the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. They shall possess the knowledge of the Bible expected of a professional in Christian ministry and be committed to the interpretations of scripture of the independent Christian Churches. They shall keep current in the knowledge and skills of Christian Ministry. As a representative of Christ and the First Christian Church in Anna, the minister shall demonstrate conduct in line with a Christian lifestyle.
Worship:
- Serving as the primary pulpit minister, preaching weekly during the Sunday assembly of the congregation
- Responsible for planning and execution of the weekly Sunday assembly of the congregation along with the Worship Minister or Ministry Team Leader
Outreach:
- Outreach minded; helping the leadership and congregation to maintain a focus on outreach
- Responsible for initiating visitor follow-up
- Perform outreach Bible studies with non-members
- Involve others in the follow-up visits and Bible studies and train the congregation in how to reach out and study with others
- Maintain a positive reputation in the community
Discipleship:
- Doctrinally sound, a student of the Word, a ready consultant on all Biblical subjects
- Discipleship minded in discipling the congregation in all spiritual disciplines and work of the church, linking known needs and the gifts and abilities of church members
- Serving as a teacher and student of the Bible
- Train men and young men to encourage development of skills in personal Christian relationships, speaking, public worship, and leadership
Fellowship:
- Promoting positive relationship in the congregation and encouraging fellowship
- Maintain a positive reputation in the congregation
- Serve as a unifying factor within the congregation
- Develop and maintain relationships with other preachers and congregations as allowed
- Responsible for organizing any special services
Pastoral:
- Perform ministerial duties such as weddings, funerals, hospital visits, etc
- Provide counseling and prayer as able and requested
- Be available to serve in other ways as time and ability permits
Leadership:
- Attend and participate in the monthly Elders meeting
- Work with the Elders to establish vision and direction for the church
- Oversee other Minister(s) and Staff weekly under the Elders
- Update leadership on proposed changes to ministry within the church
- Work and cooperate with Elders, other Minister(s) and Staff, and Ministry Team Leaders
- Maintain relationships such that he is accessible, approachable, and responsive to others in a timely manner
- Seek out education, training and material to improve in leadership
Supervision:
- The Senior Minister will coordinate his ministry according to Biblical principles and polices of the elders
- The Senior Minister shall also coordinate and work under the Elders of FCC
- The Senior Minister shall provide updates to the Elders on ministry in the church
