GENERAL JOB DUTIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a clearly defined vision and strategy for discipleship within the birth through high school family ministries that work in conjunction with the overall vision and ministry of Bridgetown Church of Christ.
  • Lead a team of volunteer staff in the operation of the birth through high school family ministries, including weekend services, programming and periodic special events.
  • Direct the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers as needed to staff discipleship groups, programming and special events.
  • Regularly select and/or develop age-appropriate curriculum for Christian education programming that works in tandem with the BCC’s weekend adult worship service schedule.
  • Implement registration, groups management, and security policies/practices in support of weekend services, programming and periodic special events.
  • Develop and implement strategies for whole-family discipleship; working with families to equip and empower parents/families to disciple their kids/teens birth through high school.
  • Provide oversight and planning for all outreach aspects of elementary, middle school and high school ministry programming.
  • Develop community relationships with local schools, etc.
  • Lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of birth through high school ministry facilities.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in providing the overall vision-casting for the church, mission planning of the church, and strategy within the church.
  • Assist in the development of an annual budget for birth through high school ministries and manage spending to budget.
  • Participate and provide support and leadership (when necessary) in church-wide events.
  • Become familiar and comply with policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Agree with and sign the BCC Statement of Faith.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a staff member in a children’s and student ministry leadership capacity.
  • A minimum of 2 years of formal Biblical Training at an accredited Bible College or a commitment to pursue ongoing formal Biblical Training.
  • Possession of a teaching or related degree. (Extensive ministry experience, in some cases, can be substituted.)

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of creative programming related to children’s classes and groups and special events is a real plus.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with birth through high school students with special needs.
  • Advanced Computer/Technology Skills.
