New Heights Christian Church in Saint Louis, MO is seeking a dynamic Head Pastor to guide our bilingual, non-denominational congregation as we grow in faith and service. While bilingual proficiency is not required, we strongly encourage those who can minister in both English and Spanish to apply. Who we are:
New Heights Christian Church was founded in 2001 by union of two congregations. Today New Heights is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual church and we are so proud to be united as one. Our Church has evolved and expanded over the years but has always remained true to its roots.

We are community of believers seeking to reach our community with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Whether it's in the church building, in our homes, or out on the streets, we share God's love with others in a variety of ways. Aiming to reflect the beauty of God's diverse kingdom and influence the multi-cultural community in which God has placed us.

With members from over 10+ different countries, New Heights celebrates with a unique bilingual worship experience every Sunday. We sing, pray and teach in both English and Spanish. And though that may sound intimidating, we promise it's easy for everyone to follow along.

Purpose:
The role of the Pastor is to assist the Elders in overseeing the life and direction of the church. The Pastor will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values and strategy of the church and the ability to align ordained and lay staff and key leadership teams with its mission. The Pastor will offer pastoral leadership to the congregation alongside clergy and lay ministers. The Pastor will ensure that the systems, practices, and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry activities.

Experience:
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience leading a church as a Head Pastor or have worked closely with a Head Pastor in a key leadership role, gaining the skills and insight necessary to step into this position with confidence. We're looking for someone who is not only passionate about ministry but is also equipped to take on the responsibilities of leading our church family with vision, compassion, and wisdom. Key Responsibilities and Duties: 
  • Preaching and teaching: The Pastor will be the primary preacher for Sunday worship services. The Pastor also will provide leadership in planning and executing the Adult Education programs and other programs in discipleship and ministry training, in coordination with other ordained and lay leaders.
  • Strategic  leadership and planning: The Pastor is responsible for strategic planning and staff coordination in the execution of the church's purpose. The Pastor will define strategic goals and vision as a key leader among staff and elders and implement the plan by:
    • Coordinating/leading weekly staff meetings and other activities to clarify and execute goals and objectives.
    • Monitoring the spiritual pulse of the congregation through review and accountability.
    • Ensuring staffing, facilities and programs are effectively aligned to meet strategic goals.
  • Staff supervision and development: The Pastor serves as director to ordained and lay staff and lay volunteers, and leads, evaluates, and mentors existing staff in their respective areas of ministry by:
    • Overseeing staff training and development.
    • Hiring and dismissing staff and prioritizing staff additions after consultation and guidance from the elders.
    • Providing leadership to the pastoral staff in the design and implementation of all church ministries.
    • Maintaining efficient and effective lines of communication between the staff and elders.
    • Serving as HR Manager - oversee the negotiation of insurance and other benefits, conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing informal performance feedback.
  • Administration: The Pastor oversees and executes the administration of the church through appropriate staff and lay leadership teams, and ensures the completion of ministry, business, facility, and logistical support functions through staff and lay volunteers.  He must:
    • Oversee the pastoral care needs of the congregation and, as necessary, share with otherordained and lay ministers in hospital visitation, home visits, counseling, marriages and funerals.
    • Supervise the office Manager and provide direction, as needed, for the effective functioning of the front office support functions.
    • Oversee development of and adherence to church policies and procedures.
  • Evaluation: The Pastor will file monthly reports to the Elders on ministry accomplishments and activities.

Compensation: 
We offer a fair and competitive salary that aligns with industry standards for our area, taking into account experience and qualifications. While our focus is on serving the community and growing in faith together, we ensure that our compensation provides a stable and supportive environment for our pastor. 

Expectations:

Estimated Weekly Hours. (40 hours)
  • 4 hrs - Worship Services (Sunday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM)
  • 30 hrs - 4 Office Days (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) (See below)
    • 10 hrs - Sermon/Lesson Prep
    • 15 hrs - Planning/Organization (Events, Programs, Ministries, etc)
    • 4 hrs - Discipleship/Relationship/Meetings
    • 1 hr - Staff Meeting
  • 2 hrs - Visit a Home Group/Hospital Visit (as often as possible)
  • 4 hrs - Sabbath Day/Rest With Intention (Prayer, Reading, Research, Mentor, etc)

We believe in empowering our leaders to fulfill their responsibilities without unnecessary oversight, allowing them the flexibility to balance ministry needs with personal time management. Our focus is on results, impact, and fostering a healthy, self-directed approach to leadership.
