The ideal candidate for Senior Minister has these qualifications and qualities:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Should have ministerial training from a Christian Church/Church of Christ college.
- Should have some experience in ministry, administration, and public speaking.
- Proficient with computers and able to relate to and participate in social media in a manner that engages people and promotes the church’s ministry.
Spiritual Requirements:
- Shows a deep commitment to Christ and has His heart for all people.
- Desires to grow in a personal relationship with Christ.
- Strives to live out God’s Word and Christ’s teachings in his daily life.
- Fully understands and supports the Scripture-based teaching of the Christian Church/Church of Christ and agrees that the Bible is the final authority.
- Involved in an accountability group, seeking honest feedback and constructive criticism.
Strengths/Personality Traits:
- Loves people and enjoys interacting with people. This includes interacting with multiple generations and working well with people from those generations.
- Identifies with small town living.
- Teachable/accepts criticism, humble, and self-motivated. This includes having sound judgment.
Expectations of what the future minister will do:
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Preach in our Sunday morning worship service.
- Teach Bible studies and classes, as needed.
- Work in partnership with the Elders or Leadership Team in leading the congregation and its ministry, cultivating a healthy team environment.
- Work with the Worship Team in planning the Sunday morning worship service.
- Work with the Christian Education Team in coordinating the church’s discipleship program.
- Oversee the administration of the church, including church staff and janitor.
- Provide short-term counseling in crisis situations, making resources available for long-term counseling.
- Provide pastoral care for the church family along with the other church leaders and members, including pastoral calls and hospital calls.
- Oversee the congregation’s outreach and ministry into the community.
- Champion evangelism and discipleship by inspiring, equipping and motivating the church’s members to share the gospel.
- Available to perform weddings and funerals as needed.
- Oversee the online presence of the church, including Facebook and YouTube as well as the website.
- Work within the church budget, providing financial responsibility to the congregation.
- Participate in local community organizations.
Compensation:
- A parsonage is provided to the minister, along with a salary and benefits that are commensurate with training and experience.
