Student Ministry Leader

Position Purpose

The Student Ministry Leader will be the responsible for the spiritual growth of Middle through High School Students for First Church at the Union Campus. This person will be a strong believer who is called and gifted to lead a high functioning team of volunteers and is passionate about helping young people pursue a deeper fellowship with Jesus Christ. The Student Ministry Leader is a person of high integrity, who is personally committed to prayer, spiritual growth and is in a close relationship with God, continually submitting his/her will to the Holy Spirit.

Position Responsibilities

• Supports the Lead Pastor and Elders in accomplishing the church’s mission and vision
  
• Promotes a culture of discipleship throughout the congregation by modeling and encouraging discipling relationships
• Leads and develops a positive, highly motivated volunteer team focused on personal growth and discipleship
• Develops and executes a strategy to encourage young people into spiritual practice progress toward maturity
• Collaborates with team to create successful out-reach events and a culture of pursuing the lost
• Works with the Next Gen Director to develop a strategy to benchmark, track, and set goals for growth
• Balanced leader who builds strong relationships with students but maintains a high level of respect
• Coordinates with Campus Pastor/Team to support the strategy of the campus and integrate SM activities
• Responsible for communicating and establishing a high level of trust with parents
• Creates a safe space for new attenders and dedicated believers to pursue a deeper relationship with Christ

Qualifications

• Theologically in agreement with the statement of faith, church doctrine, and ministry philosophy of First Church
  
• Demonstrates a heart for serving Christ, the Church, and the community
• Love for young people and the heart of a teacher
• Has the ability to provide leadership that’s consistent with the values of First Church
• Able to recruit, train, motivate and develop a highly effective team of volunteers
• Proven ability to work responsibly in a highly empowered environment
• Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or comparable student ministry experience
